Getting Here |
|
From Anchorage, Happy Valley Haven is approximately a 4 hour drive. You will cover 188 beautiful, scenic miles down the Kenai Peninsula, on the Seward and Sterling Highways, to Ninilchik. Rarely is the drive made without seeing wildlife. Mt. Goats and Dall Sheep frequent the rocky cliffs along Turnagain Arm, south of Anchorage, while Beluga whales can often be seen in the waters of Cook Inlet along the Arm. Moose and eagles are abundant all along the Peninsula. Once you arrive in Ninilchik, its just another six miles to your "home away from home".

If you prefer you may fly from Anchorage into either Kenai or Homer airport, where you can rent a car. A 1/2 hour flight will put you into Kenai where you will then drive 56 miles south along Cook Inlet with spectacular views of the mountains and volcanos across the Inlet. A 45 minute flight into Homer will put you in the midst of an awesome view of Kachemak Bay and Cook Inlet, surrounded by mountains in every direction. Happy Valley Haven is a short, 28 mile drive north.

Framed by the rolling hills that lie next to the Kenai Mountains, and the shores of Cook Inlet; Ninilchik has been blessed with two of the Kenai Peninsula's many important salmon spawning streams, which lie on either side of this old fishing village.
The weather in Ninilchik is moderate, in comparison to the Interior and the Southeast; rarely do we experience the extreme high and low temperatures of the north, or the constant drizzle and fog of the Southeast and Prince William Sound. |
